"I'm with the Woolwich" was the famous catchphrase in the 70's.

In 1997 the Woolwich floated on the London Stock Exchange as Woolwich plc, changing status to a PLC from a mutual building society.

In October 2000 the Woolwich was taken over by Barclays.
